Even stranger to me is alerts like when you hit a wrong key combination DO work, so this has got me puzzled.
no Sibelius startup, no sent mail 'whoosh'. I've tried 'sound' in system preferences, changing things, restarting, restarting from a shutdown, etc. Because I'm also having the same issue where in mail (Mac) the 'whoosh' that normally happens has gone away has me thinking that something has changed in the system (Snow Leopard, latest). are working fine, Sibelius is working normally, but it does have me concerned. Instead, I hear some pops/clix/a high frequency for a short moment where the startup music used to be.
